San Francisco’s many cultural claims to fame include a strong cuisine. From Mission burritos to In-N-Out Burger to clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, San Francisco’s treats are much, much more than Rice-A-Roni. Truly, the city welcomes anyone who likes to eat.
Clinical Congress welcomes food lovers, too. Each year, the ACS closes out Clinical Congress with Taste of the City, a social and networking event that offers sips and bites emblematic of the hosting city. Taste of the City 2024—celebrating the conclusion of the College’s 110th Clinical Congress—is tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, in the Golden Gate Ballroom of the San Francisco Marriot Marquis.
The theme will reflect three remarkable periods in San Francisco’s past:
The event will include decorations and activities that reflect these eras. A stilt walker, caricaturist, fortune teller, and airbrush-tattoo artist will be on hand, and attendees can enjoy a photo booth, games, and other party activities as well. A local San Francisco DJ, DJ Andrew, will play pop hits.
The cuisine will include a range of small bites reflecting San Francisco neighborhoods, including Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square. Dishes suitable for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten intolerance will be available. Food will be labeled to note the allergens present.
The San Francisco Marriot Marquis is located at 780 Mission Street. To access it from the Moscone Center, walk west on Howard to 4th Street and turn right, then walk one block to Mission Street. Alternatively, cross Howard Street and walk straight through Yerba Buena Gardens; the hotel is directly on the other side.
At the Taste of the City and on the entire final day of Clinical Congress, the ACS encourages casual attire. All attendees should feel free to bring their partners and children to this family-friendly event. No extra registration or tickets are required.
