The Academy hosts an annual symposium focusing on transformational changes in surgical education. The symposium provides an opportunity for members to discuss leading-edge topics and engage with world-renowned experts. The Academy held an inaugural symposium in October of 2019 on Emerging Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Surgical Care and Education. The 2020 and 2021 abbreviated symposia were presented at the Clinical Congress Special Sessions and focused on transformational changes in surgery residency training that are based on the experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The next Academy symposium will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The Cutting Edge serves as a repository of peer-reviewed resources that are different from traditional articles published in journals. Materials include innovative resources combined with implementation guidance for surgical educators and leaders. Authors may submit original work for consideration for publication.
The Academy is pleased to present the encore presentation of ACS Clinical Congress Named Lectures 2017–2020. This release includes a range of clinical and non-clinical topics, all presented by world-renowned experts in surgery and surgical education. As an additional benefit, each speaker has prepared a brief summary of their talk, sharing their reflections of their presentation as well as the relevancy of the topic to the present time.
