ACS Current Trends in General Surgery

Course Description

The American College of Surgeons Division of Education is pleased to present this online course, ACS Current Trends in General Surgery. This educational activity is intended for general surgeons and others seeking a review of general surgery. It is designed to provide new knowledge or reinforce existing concepts for use in surgical practice, and to assist in preparation for examinations. AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and Self-Assessment Credit will be available.

Course Content

This course is designed to be a pragmatic review covering essential content areas in general surgery. The course content is divided into five modules, listed below.

  • GI Oncology Module
  • Alimentary Module
  • Breast, Skin, Soft Tissue, and Endocrine Module
  • Trauma, Critical Care, and Vascular Module
  • Perioperative Care Module

NEW: Learners have the opportunity to purchase the full course (all five modules listed above) or to select individual modules. For more information, please see the “Course Enrollment” section to the right.

Learning objectives include:

  • Extract new information on key topics in General Surgery such as the Alimentary Tract, Endocrine and Soft Tissue, Oncology, Perioperative Care, Skin and Breast, Surgical Critical Care, Trauma, Specialty Care, and Vascular Surgery.
  • Articulate and use newly acquired knowledge directly in clinical settings to enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Recognize specific areas for enhancing medical expertise and patient care practices, while also evolving personal improvement strategies.

Accreditation

The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

ACS Current Trends in General Surgery: Full Course

The American College of Surgeons designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 37.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
