Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (MCACS) is a non-profit organization formed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1953. The purposes of the Chapter are educational and professional, which includes elevating the standards of surgery and educating the public and the profession with respect to surgical care. The Council provides the governance for the Massachusetts member surgeons.
A full day Annual Meeting offers continuing medical education and special programming for Residents that includes the Chapter’s “Top Gun Competition”. In addition, the Chapter hosts an annual team entry for its members and future members in the "Run To Remember" which is an event to salute First Responders. Chapter advocacy takes place on both the state and national levels, including an Annual Surgical Advocacy Summit at the Massachusetts State House.
Membership in the American College of Surgeons does not include automatic enrollment in the local chapter.
