Authors: Rachel E. Hanke, MD, Joana Ochoa, MD, Joyce Pang, MD, Victoria Miles, MD, Cheyenne C. Sonntag, MD, Kaitlin A. Ritter, MD

So You Think You Can Operate? (SYTYCO) is a surgical skills competition that tests participants on a variety of surgical skills including technical procedures, clinical decision making, and teamwork.

With pre-made skills stations vetted by the American College of Surgeon’s Resident and Associate Society Education Committee, adding SYTYCO to your next chapter meeting can be easily accomplished.  The College is proud to produce and provide these resources to all ACS chapters in the spirit of resident and fellow education.  The five SYTYCO stations created for the toolkit include:

  1. Carotid Patch
  2. Cricothyroidotom
  3. Laparoscopic Skills
  4. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
  5. OR Instrument Identification
