Medical Student Travel Award

 The Division of Member Services has established the Medical Student Travel Award for Clinical Congress 2024, a unique opportunity designed to support a medical student interested in surgery and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) mission. The Awardee will be able to attend Clinical Congress 2024 in San Francisco, CA from October 19-22, 2024, and gain valuable insights and connections.

The Awardee will receive $2,000 to cover flight, hotel, and reasonable travel expenses. All receipts must be submitted to the ACS with unused funds within 45 days of Clinical Congress.

Application Terms and Requirements: 

  • This award is only open to all domestic medical student members in years 1-3.
  • Applicants must be a current member of the American College of Surgeons

Application Process: Application will be open from June 7 to July 1. Applications must be submitted online, and the submission link will automatically close at 11:59 pm on Monday, July 1. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

  • Essay submission should be 300 words or less and should include the following:
    • Describe your interest in surgery
    • Describe how you will utilize this opportunity to meet possible mentors (residents/attendings)
