Associate Fellows

Applications are accepted year-round.

Joining the College as an early career surgeon signifies a personal commitment to furthering your professional development and conducting your career with the highest set of professional standards. Membership Requirements

Applicants for Associate Fellow membership must have graduated from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school in the United States, Canada, or international country and have completed residency training. They must have a current and unrestricted medical license and applicants who have entered surgical practice must have a current hospital or academic appointment.

Application Process

If your membership has lapsed, you may submit a request for reinstatement. Please contact reinstate@facs.org to request a reinstatement form.

Before you begin your application, have the following information accessible:

  • Verification that you have completed residency and the date you entered surgical practice. All documents must be in English.
  • Details about your medical license.
  • A copy of your board certificate, or if not yet board certified, the date when you expect to become certified.

Fees and Dues

U.S. and Canada
Application Fee: $75
Annual Dues: $300 (due July 1)

International application fees and dues are based on the World Bank income categories for each country.

High- and Upper-Middle-Income Countries
Application Fee: $75
Annual Dues: $150

Lower-Middle-Income countries:
Application Fee: $50
Annual Dues: $75

Low-Income Countries
Application Fee: $25
Annual Dues: $38

The application fee for Residents upgrading to Associate Fellow is FREE for Residents who are current with their ACS membership dues.
