Captain Gordon G Wisbach, MD, MBA, FACS
Captain Gordon Wisbach is a general surgeon in the United States Navy stationed at the Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Command – San Diego (NMRTC-SD), where he is director of metabolic & bariatric surgery, surgical director of the Simulation Center, and the first TeleSurgical Director of the Virtual Medical Center. He was awarded his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed his residency training at NMRTC-SD. Captain Wisbach was fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic/bariatric surgery at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He holds the title of associate professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland and earned his MBA from the Naval Post-graduate School in Monterey, California. Captain Wisbach is past president of the Excelsior Surgical Society and serves as the inaugural Governor representing this society on the Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons.
