Our goal is simple: to improve military medicine through education, research, and fellowship.
Medicine is constantly changing, particularly military medicine. As the Military Chapter of the ACS, the Excelsior Surgical Society provides a voice and a home for all military surgeons within the largest surgical organization in the world. The Excelsior Surgical Society serves as both an on-ramp to membership in the College as well as an off-ramp for surgeons as they separate from the military and transition to civilian practice. Additionally, in today’s evolving environment, the Military-Civilian Partnership is now as important as ever.
We strive to improve surgical education both on and off the battlefield by collaborating on issues that are pertinent to today’s active duty surgeon. While this may include preparedness for combat surgery, it also has to do with quality assurance for non-combat surgery, patient safety, and the incorporation of new surgical techniques and technology.
The Excelsior Surgical Society exists for Military Surgeons. It also exists because of Military Surgeons. Join us! Let your voices and concerns be heard. Use your experience to guide the next generation of surgeons or to assist line commanders with the battlefield utilization of medical assets. Take advantages of the opportunities of the Military Health System Strategic Partnership of the ACS.
