Adnan Alseidi, MD, EdM

Adnan Alseidi, MD, EdM, is Professor of Clinical Surgery and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Surgery at UCSF. Dr. Alseidi has extensive experience with minimally invasive and open hepatobiliary, pancreatic and endocrine surgeries. Additionally, he is interested in expanding surgical therapies for patients with locally advanced pancreas cancer, splenic preservation techniques, and immunology studies.

Dr. Alseidi holds many national and international position to include being the current president of the Association of Surgical Education, the Present-elect for the fellowship council, the Chair for training and education for HPB surgery for the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

A graduate of UC, Santa Barbara, and Pennsylvania State University Medical School,Dr. Alseidi completed his general surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Following graduation from residency, he served as a surgeon in the US Navy and as a Co-director of the Surgery Department at the US Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. Dr. Alseidi completed an HPB and advanced GI fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and earned a master's degree in surgical education at Southern Illinois University/University of Illinois-UC.  From 2011– March 2020, Dr. Alseidi was an attending HPB and endocrine surgeon at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA where he held the roles of Director of the HPB Clinical Fellowship, Surgical Simulation Training, and Associate Program Director of the general surgery residency.
