The ACS helped raise awareness during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March about the concerning rise in colorectal cancer in younger adults and what people can do to help reduce their risk of getting colorectal cancer.

In a bilingual satellite media tour coordinated by the ACS, Paula Denoya, MD, FACS, FASCRS, State Chair of the Eastern Long Island-NY Chapter of the ACS Commission on Cancer (CoC), and James T. McCormick, DO, FACS, FASCRS, State Chair of the CoC Pennsylvania Chapter, spoke with dozens of news stations around the country to share their expertise with the public on the importance of screening, paying attention to changes in bowel habits, and preventative lifestyle factors.

These interviews had a potential reach of more than 28 million viewers.

One of the interviews, with Dr. Denoya, aired on WKOW in Madison, Wisconsin.

More information on the resources that were shared is available in the ACS Media Center.
