A tornado triage scenario is now included in the online ACS Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness (eDMEP) course.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration National Severe Storms Laboratory reports that approximately 1,200 tornadoes occur annually in the US and also ravage other parts of the world, including Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America.

The eDMEP course provides physicians and others, including members of a hospital disaster team, with essential knowledge and best practices for responding to mass casualty incidents, focusing on the hospital response to disaster.

The first eDMEP scenario addressed earthquake preparedness; the tornado triage scenario was added last month.

Interactive scenarios help learners hone their triage skills in a virtual setting, preparing them for real-life situations. Each scenario is tailored to the respective disaster, ensuring that casualties and injuries accurately reflect the conditions and unique needs of that event.

Enrollment in the eDMEP course is $295. Access the course today.
