Women surgeons may face unique challenges as they progress through their surgical careers, and the ACS Women in Surgery Committee recently launched the “What I Wish I Knew” video series to share the wisdom of successful women surgeons.
The series launched in July with three interviews:
- Mary Klingensmith, MD, FACS, the Mary Culver Distinguished Professor and Vice Chair for Education in Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, shares what she learned in seeking leadership positions and discovering a path as a surgeon educator.
- Niru Anne, MD, FACS, FSSO, medical director of the breast program at Prisma Health Systems in South Carolina, discusses her experience learning to delegate as a private practice surgeon and how she built confidence in her team.
- Jyoti Chohan, DO, PharmD, FACS, assistant professor of urology at the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine in Portland, describes her experience as a new attending surgeon learning billing and coding, including what resources she found useful.
