Surgeons Discuss Increasing Scooter Injuries and Subsequent Major Operations

January 23, 2024

Scooter-related injuries are on the rise and can have severe consequences, according to new research in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons. The researchers found that the incidence of scooter-related injuries increased by nearly three-fold from 2016 to 2020, and more than half of the injured patients underwent major operations. Watch authors Nam Yong Cho and Peyman Benharash, MD, FACS, summarize the research, which has received significant lay media attention in publications including Forbes and US News & World Report.
