Surgeon Voices: Dr. Ali Aminian, Author of Recent Article on Bariatric Surgery and Cancer Risk

This week, Steven D. Wexner, MD, PhD(Hon), FACS, FRCSEng, FRCSEd, ACS Communications Consultant, and director, Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, FL, speaks with Ali Aminian, MD, FACS, director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Cleveland Clinic, OH, co-author of the recent Journal of the American Medical Association article, “Association of Bariatric Surgery with Cancer Risk and Mortality in Adults with Obesity.” This article suggests that bariatric surgery compared with no surgery was associated with a significantly lower incidence of obesity-associated cancer and cancer-related mortality.
