The awards assists international surgeons from LMICs to attend the annual ACS Clinical Congress.
July 26, 2022
The ACS International Relations Committee has announced the availability of Community Surgeons Travel Awards that will provide international surgeons with the opportunity to attend and participate fully in the educational activities during next year’s Clinical Congress in Boston, MA. These awards, in the amount of $4,000 each and available for surgeons 30−50 years old, specifically assist surgeons who work in community or regional hospitals or clinics in countries other than the US and Canada or who are from poorly resourced academic departments of surgery in low- and middle-income countries.
A new Community Surgeon Travel Award for Filipino surgeons is supported through the generosity of the Doctors Duremdes family. It gives preference to meritorious applications from Iloilo Province, Panay Island, and non-urban Philippine communities.
Each awardee will receive complimentary registration to Clinical Congress 2023 and one available Postgraduate Course during the conference. Assistance will be provided to obtain preferential housing at an economical hotel in the Clinical Congress host city.
The deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 31. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the selection process in December. Visit the ACS website for more information on basic requirements and financial assistance.
