Although minimally invasive surgery has improved cosmetic outcomes, commonly performed laparoscopic abdominal procedures still result in visible scars across the mid-abdomen and may negatively impact a patient’s quality of life. In this video Marie L. Fefferman, MD, describes her July 2024 Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS) article, “Hidden Port Site Incisions for Robotic Foregut and Hepatopancreatobiliary Operations: A Cosmetically Superior Approach,” which provides simple-to-adapt variations in post-site placement that have the potential to improve patient satisfaction. A free subscription to JACS is a benefit of ACS membership.
