Last Friday, the US Congress reversed some—but not all—of the 3.37% Medicare physician payment reduction that went into effect on January 1. Although the outcome was disappointing, the progress made was achieved because ACS Members participated in advocacy.
As the ACS continues to fight aggressively for long-term reform that brings stability to the payment system, we need your voice to help amplify the message. One way you can do that is to participate in the Leadership & Advocacy Summit, being held April 13–16 in the newly renovated Westin Washington, DC Downtown Hotel.
The housing deadline is this Thursday, March 14, so don’t delay.
The ACS Leadership & Advocacy Summit offers comprehensive and specialized sessions that focus on effective surgeon leadership, as well as interactive advocacy training with coordinated visits to Congressional offices.
The leadership portion of the summit is free for all ACS Members, nonmember residents, and nonmember medical students. A free virtual option also is available.
The advocacy portion of the summit, which includes in-person visits to Capitol Hill on Tuesday, April 16, is for US-based members only.
Peruse the agenda to review preconference workshops (additional fees are required) and an engaging program that includes sessions on well-being, engaging in the surgical practice environment, career paths to the corner office, and ACS chapter success stories. Select meals and receptions also are included.
