A new article, “Writing a Winning Manuscript,” is now available on the Resources in Surgical Education (RISE) webpage.
In this milestone 50th RISE article, author Maura E. Sullivan, PhD, discusses the efforts involved in writing a manuscript for a journal, which can be time-consuming and its review process opaque. It is disappointing for an author to get a paper rejected after months and sometimes years dedicated to a particular study. Scientific journals must rely on expert reviewers to ensure peer-review and high-quality standards, but there are steps that prospective authors can take to improve their odds of publication.
Through its 50 articles, and more to come, RISE has featured innovative tools, information, and other resources that will enhance your surgical education endeavors. From pro-con debates on the impact of dedicated research years during general surgery residency to enhancing surgeon wellness in training years, RISE articles provide topics of interest for all surgeons—educators and students alike.
