The ACS Profiles in Diversity series spotlights surgeon leaders who thread DEI into their careers. Interviewees describe their experience and  offer tips for integrating concepts and best practices into your practice.

In the latest episode, Francisco G. Cigarroa, MD, FACS, professor and director of the transplant center, Carlos and Malú Alvarez Distinguished University Chair, and Ashbel Smith Professorship in Surgery at The University of Texas Health, San Antonio, shares stories about how he integrated DEI best practices into the many leadership roles he has held throughout his career, made diversity part of the culture at the institutions he has led, and created diverse teams and leadership.
