Mentorship is a hallmark of academic and professional success, and the colleagues and friends of Dr. Gerald B. Healy have established funding for an annual mentoring fellowship program in his honor. The program is intended to help young surgeons develop new ideas, innovative approaches, and well-informed attitudes about safety, quality, and professionalism via visits with successful mentors.
The Gerald B. Healy, MD, FACS, Traveling Mentorship Fellowship should be used to facilitate visiting and engaging with at least one successful mentor. The award, in the amount of $5,000, should cover travel and other expenses incurred.
Applicants must be US or Canadian ACS Fellows or Associate Fellows no higher than the rank of associate professor, and mentors must be US or Canadian Fellows or, if in a non-surgical field (e.g., microbiology, anatomy) or non-medical field (e.g., business, law), must be appropriate for the research and education needs of the applicant.
The deadline to apply is June 15, 2023. Visit the Fellowship web page for more information and to apply.
