Use ACS Coding Hotline for Information on Billing-Related Issues

November 21, 2023

Experts agree that correct coding may be the single most important area for surgical practice improvement. However, keeping up with frequent changes in coding and billing rules can be costly and time-consuming.

As part of ongoing efforts to support Fellows and their practices submit clean claims and receive proper reimbursement, the ACS has established a coding consultation service—the ACS Coding Hotline—that Fellows and their practice staff can contact for information related to CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding, as well as other billing-related issues.

How to Get Help

  1. Visit the Coding Hotline website.
  2. Fill out the specified contact information, including your ACS membership number.
Please note: Practice staff may submit questions to the Coding Hotline on behalf of an ACS Fellow by using the Fellow’s membership number.
  3. Describe your question(s) in the text box, attach any supporting documentation (for example, de-identified operative notes, claims denials), and submit.
  4. A member of the Coding Hotline staff will reach out to you via e-mail to answer your question(s).
