Read New and Updated ACS Statements on Workplace Violence, Surgeon Well-being, and More

At their recent meeting in San Francisco held during Clinical Congress 2024, the Board of Regents approved the following new statements and updates to existing statements. Members are encouraged to review the ACS official statements that address a wide range of topics from clinical care to health and well-being and health policy. 

New Statements

Workplace Violence Statement and Resources

In response to the growing incidence of workplace violence against healthcare workers—particularly surgeons, who are involved in consequential medical decision and interventions—the ACS has collated resources for reference by healthcare facilities working to create a Workplace Violence Policy

Automatic Crash Notification Position Statement

To allow for expeditious healthcare response to motor vehicle collisions, the ACS supports the inclusion of standardized Automatic Crash Notification/Advanced Automatic Crash Notification Systems in all new motor vehicles, improved data sharing, and federal research funding.
