Registration is now open for the annual ACS Residents as Teachers and Leaders Course. The 2025 program, Friday, April 11, to Sunday, April 13, at ACS headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, is designed specifically for surgery residents and will address the essential nonclinical skills—teaching and leading—that are required for success as surgeons and members of the healthcare team.

The course faculty, featuring nationally renowned clinical and educational professionals, will provide an interactive learning environment.

The course will address the following essential skills for residents’ lifelong roles as teachers, leaders, and practicing surgeons:

Effective Teaching

  • Establishing a positive learning climate
  • Finding time to teach
  • Teaching in ambulatory settings and the operating room
  • Giving feedback on performance

Successful Leading

  • Developing and leading productive teams
  • Resolving conflict
  • Using different leadership styles effectively
  • Maximizing various working styles

This course is targeted at mid- to senior-level residents, but all are welcome to attend. Registration information is available on the course web page, and the early bird registration discount ends November 11, 2024. Space is limited, so register today.
