Intimate partner violence (IPV) can affect anyone, and surgeons, physicians, and healthcare professionals can change an individual’s life by effectively identifying people who have sustained IPV and referring them to the appropriate resources.

The ACS and collaborative organizations—Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Urogynecologic Society—are hosting a moderated webinar discussion, “Breaking the Cycle: Advocacy Resources for Surgeons Regarding Intimate Partner Violence,” which will provide viewers with an opportunity to learn about what advocacy resources victims and survivors of IPV have access to.

The discussion will take place tomorrow, October 30, led by Carrie Sim, MD, PhD, FACS, and will cover what legal protections are available and how a surgeon can be an advocate regarding IPV. The live discussion will be followed by a Q&A.
