The Paraguay Surgical Society held its biannual meeting in Asunción, Paraguay, September 16–19. I had the privilege of participating in the meeting and several affiliated programs.
The Italy Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, in conjunction with the International College of Surgeons, put on a Humanitarian Surgery ACS General Surgery Review Course. This pre-meeting course was a 2-day update on general surgery principles for general surgeons, especially those planning and preparing for board exams.
The ACS Paraguay Chapter also held its meeting, where I participated in the election process and was able to congratulate Jorge Giubi, MD, FACS, as the new Chapter President, succeeding Agustin E. Rodriguez, MD, FACS. The Paraguay Surgical Society meeting was attended by more than 1,800 surgeons from across the country, representing all specialties in the House of Surgery and successfully engaging all participants with break-out meetings focused on multiple disciplines.
The Chapter and the Society meeting attendees demonstrated their strength and commitment to improving the care of surgical patients and a dedication to the ACS motto, “To Heal All with Skill and Trust.”
