October 4, 2022
The wait is nearly over—Clinical Congress 2022, live and in-person, October 16–20 in San Diego, CA, begins in less than 2 weeks! Learn from distinguished experts, hear about groundbreaking procedures and research, network with peers from around the globe, and gain clinical and non-clinical knowledge and skills that you can immediately put into practice.
This year is a hybrid event that also will include an option for virtual attendance. All attendees will have access to livestreamed and on-demand content, and both in-person and virtual attendees can claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, earn self-assessment credits, and meet other regulatory requirements.
The ACS Brief recently offered information on this year’s Named Lectures, Postgraduate Courses, and opportunities to connect with colleagues. Discover some other conference highlights below.
The Sunday Convocation ceremony confers Fellowship upon surgeons who have successfully met the College’s requirements and standards and includes recognition of Honorary Fellows, presentation of the Distinguished Service Award, installation of ACS Officers and Officers-Elect, and the Presidential Address. Virtual Inductees from 2020 and 2021 also will be in attendance so they can participate in the in-person ceremony.
Recent Clinical Congresses have included Special Sessions on timely topics of interest to ACS members, and this year the College will offer three sessions on how educational accomplishments related to promotion of surgery faculty, how the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the ACS can partner to address challenges such as Medicare and other reimbursement, and surgical lessons learned from the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis.
The expansive Scientific Forum at Clinical Congress offers the opportunity to learn about the latest high-quality, in-progress scientific and academic surgery reports, including updates on late-breaking clinical trials, while more than 120 Panel Sessions will feature groups of experts delivering information and updates on a range of topics, including the return of the Ten Hot Topics in Surgery session. Young surgeons and students should also make a point of attending the in-person Surgery Resident Program and the Medical Student Program, respectively, for targeted learning (conference registration is free for both member groups).
Monday through Wednesday, you will be able to visit ACS Central and the Technical Exhibition, where you can learn about ACS programs and more than 100 companies will display their products, innovations, and services. In addition, new and returning ACS highlights include the Surgical Ergonomics Hands-On Clinic and the Surgical Metrics Project, respectively.
