The ACS is recruiting faculty volunteers, as well as Association Fellows and Resident Members of the ACS, to participate in select parts of this year’s 3-day Medical Student Program at Clinical Congress 2024 in San Francisco, California. If you will be attending and are interested in helping out, you are invited to participate in any of the following events depending on your interest and availability.
A few spots left: Medical Student ePoster Session Judge
Saturday, October 19, 2:15 pm–4:05 pm
The volunteer judges will be asked to critique medical students’ ePoster presentations. Volunteer judges typically have some experience in research. No advance preparation on your part is required.
Tentatively full: MS1–MS3 Roundtable Sessions: Preparing for Residency (Personal Statement & Away Rotations)
Sunday, October 20, 2:15–4:25 pm
The duties of the faculty volunteers will include either coaching students about how to approach writing their personal statement for residency application purposes, or sharing expertise and guidance on away rotations and working with AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities program.
Volunteers are asked to be well-versed in these topics; otherwise, no preparation on your part is required.
High priority: Mock Interview Practice Sessions with Surgeons
Monday, October 21, 3:00–5:00 pm
The faculty will ask a typical residency interview question and treat it like a real interview. It is suggested to give a single student a question, allow them to answer, and then spend a few minutes providing feedback about the exchange to the group. No preparation on your part is required.
