Surgeons Sowing Hope

ACS President-Elect E. Christopher Ellison, MD, FACS

With Surgeons Sowing Hope as the theme of her presidential year, Julie A. Freischlag, MD, FACS, DFSVS, is asking ACS members how they are sowing hope. Dr. Freischlag recently spoke with E. Christopher Ellison, MD, FACS, the Robert M. Zollinger Professor of Surgery Emeritus at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, as well as ACS President-Elect, about how he has been sowing hope.  Dr. Ellison described the work he has done with provide guidance and service dogs to severely disabled individuals, as well as his efforts in building homes for the needy through Habitat for Humanity.

As Dr. Ellison suggests, “As surgeons, you have a lot of opportunities to make an impact on your community, and I would urge you to do so.”
