Sandra M. Farach, MD; Kristin N. Kelly, MD; Rachel L. Farkas, MD, FACS; et al participated in an American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) study, which reviewed operating room attire policies and concluded that stringent attire policies do not reduce surgical site infection rates. In particular, this includes complete coverage of hair and ears with bouffant hats.
