Sandra R. DiBrito, MD, PhD; Carla M. Lopez, MD; Christian Jones, MD, MS, FACS; and Aarti Mathur, MD, FACS, for the Association of Women Surgeons Taskforce, recommend in the March Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS) that best practices to reduce implicit bias be adopted to mitigate the negative impact of unconscious stereotypes or attitudes and allow for greater inclusivity in surgical departments.
