April 1, 2020

The ACS began publishing a twice weekly e-newsletter—Bulletin: ACS COVID-19 Updates—which is designed to keep the membership informed and updated on best practices.

As this issue of the Bulletin was going to press, the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic was significantly affecting surgeons, their institutions, and their patients in every U.S. state. To better respond to questions members of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) have about how to handle the anticipated onslaught of cases, the ACS began publishing a twice weekly e-newsletter March 20—Bulletin: ACS COVID-19 Updates—which is designed to keep the membership informed and updated on best practices.

Each issue provides responses to frequently asked questions, links to peer-reviewed research, information on federal and state legislation and regulatory issues, details regarding ACS meetings and events that are canceled or postponed, and other updates. The information in the newsletter is conceived and compiled by members of the ACS Board of Regents and ACS Officers and is published under the aegis of the Division of Integrated Communications. During this time, we are pausing My ACS NewsScope and ACS Newscope. We will resume publication of these newsletters when the demand for information regarding COVID-19 slows. In the meantime, the ACS leadership anticipates you will find this newsletter useful in staying informed on how to address this ever-evolving pandemic. The Regents and staff look forward to receiving your feedback.
