Applications Invited for ACS Aspiring Leaders Program

August 1, 2022

The American College of Surgeons Division of Education and the Committee on Professional Opportunities for Senior Surgeons are pleased to announce the continuation of the ACS Aspiring Leaders Program piloted last year.  Designed for mid-career ACS Fellows, this program will focus on accelerating professional development and maximizing leadership potential.  Based on individual career goals and aspirations, each selected participant will be paired with a senior surgeon who will collaborate to develop growth strategies and act as a sounding board for the participant.

During the year-long program, the mid-career and senior surgeon pairs will engage in a series of virtual and in-person meetings to help identify and clarify professional development goals, complete tailored educational and experiential activities, and establish meaningful measures of success.  Activities will include educational sessions, professional assessment exercises, and opportunities to meet other program participants.

Individuals selected to participate will be committed to investing the time to initiate change and accelerate their professional development as surgeon leaders. The application deadline has been extended to September 2, 2022. The selection process will be deliberate and focus on pair-compatibility, while ensuring inclusivity of gender, ethnicity, practice, and specialty.  For additional details and to access the application form, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/D7FCHR7.

This program is being led by Jennifer E. Rosen, MD, FACS.  For additional information, please contact Dr. Rosen at Jennifer.E.Rosen@medstar.net, or Adegoke Adetunji, PhD, at aadetunji@facs.org or (312) 202-5237, or Jamie Ciccone, Manager, Preceptorship, Coaching, and Retooling at jciccone@facs.org or (312) 202-5197.
