The Commission on Cancer (CoC) Cancer Liaison Program is now accepting nominations for the annual Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) Outstanding Performance Award program.
Who Can Nominate:
- Cancer Committee Members
- Cancer care teams from the same institution are encouraged to submit one nomination per CLP
- CoC State Chairs
- CoC Site Reviewers
- American Cancer Society regional staff members
- Self-nomination
Nomination Process:
- The call for nominations opens May 1 and closes June 5.
- The CoC State Chair CLP Education Advisory Group will review the nominations and the winners will be announced in August.
To be eligible for the award, CLPs must:
- Have served at least one full year in the CLP role
- Currently be serving in the CLP role
- Understand and help to educate their programs’ Cancer Committee members on the CoC standards
- Exhibit a clear understanding of National Cancer Database reporting tools and use them effectively to assess program performance
- Identify and bring forward specific issues to the Cancer Committee, resulting in changes that improve patient care
- Participate in regional cancer-related activities or American College of Surgeons Chapter events
- Foster a strong relationship with the American Cancer Society or utilize American Cancer Society resources in their work
- Excel in the role of CLP
- Not be a previous recipient of the CLP Outstanding Performance Award
Those chosen to receive the CLP Outstanding Performance Award will receive a plaque and will be recognized in the American College of Surgeons Cancer Programs communications vehicles, including the ACS Cancer Programs website, social media channels, and Cancer Programs News newsletter. A letter will be sent to the award winners’ Cancer Committee Chairs, encouraging them to recognize the winners at meetings and within their institutions. Finally, the CLP Outstanding Performance Award winners will be recognized at the October CoC Plenary Session.
