Cancer Research Program Seeks Pilot Sites for Social Determinants of Health Screening Survey

July 11, 2024

The ACS Commission on Cancer (CoC) and Cancer Research Program (CRP) will soon be administering a Social Determinants of Health Screening Survey to CoC-accredited institutions to understand current social determinants of health (SDOH) screening practices utilized by CoC-accredited institutions to meet the nonmedical needs of their patients.

The CRP is seeking volunteer sites to provide feedback on the survey instrument prior to its distribution to all CoC-accredited institutions. Your responses will provide critical information to increase our understanding of how the needs of diverse cancer populations can be best identified and addressed. If your program is selected, you will be asked to complete the survey (approximately 15 minutes) and participate in a virtual interview (approximately 15-30 minutes) to provide feedback on the survey instrument. The total time commitment is estimated to be a maximum of 45 minutes. No incentives, including credit for any CoC standard, will be provided for participation in the pilot study or final survey.

If you are interested in volunteering as a pilot site, please fill out this form by Friday, July 26. We will select 10 pilot sites based on patient and hospital characteristics to represent the diverse constituency of CoC-accredited institutions. If your site is not chosen for the pilot study, you will still be able to share your SDOH screening practices when the final survey is distributed to all CoC-accredited institutions. Please see the July ACS Bulletin for more information on the role of SDOH screening on cancer outcomes. Notification of volunteer selection will be communicated by Friday, August 2.
