National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer

Updated Compliance Requirements for NAPRC Standards

Effective January 1, 2023, NAPRC Standard 5.13: Adjuvant Therapy after Surgical Resection is retired. Programs will no longer need to provide five patients that underwent adjuvant therapy during the medical record review process.

Additionally, site reviewers will no longer be rating whether a pathology report is in synoptic format and contains required College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements for Standard 5.9: Pathology Reports after Surgical Resection. Standard 5.9 still will be rated on whether a Rectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (RC-MDT) pathologist read/reported the rectal cancer specimen and if the report was completed within 2 weeks.

The 2023 NAPRC Site Visit Sample Agenda and Instructions has been updated to reflect the above changes and is available in the Resources section of the Quality Portal for accredited and applicant NAPRC programs.
