Dr. Lee is the Paul S. and Allene T. Russell Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Surgery, Medicine, Molecular Medicine, Organismal Biology and Anatomy at the University of Chicago. His clinical expertise is reconstructive surgery of the abdominal wall, chest wall, vulvovaginal complex, cosmetic surgery of the eyelid, tissue engineering, hypertrophic scarring and electrical shock injury. He is Past-president of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons and Plastic Surgery Section of the National Medical Association. Dr. Lee is a note authority on the physics of trauma and has been elected the National Academy of Engineering and to the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering. He has been elected to Fellowship in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the Biomedical Engineering Society, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, and the Institute for Electrical And Electronic Engineers. He is a founder and director of the Chicago Electrical Trauma Research Institute, a program for rehabilitation of survivors of electrical shock injury.
