Dr. Theda Kontis specializes in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. While skillful diagnosis and surgery are important elements in medicine, Dr. Kontis recognizes that communication between the patient and doctor is the essential ingredient. She is well known for the personalized care she provides for all her patients. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University, Dr. Kontis received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed a General Surgery internship, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency, and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship all the The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. Dr. Kontis is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in both the Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery Departments. Board certified in Facial Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Kontis is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Amercian Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons. She is a member of the Board of Dircetors for the Baord of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In practice for 25 years, Dr. Kontis is well respected for her innovative techniques in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. She is frequently featured in Baltimore Magazine. Her expertise includes injections of Botox and facial fillers as well as the latest techniques in cosmetic surgery of the face. Dr. Kontis takes an active role in teaching colleagues, at the local and national level, about recent advances in facial plastic surgery. She has published extensively in the medical literature, and her Cosmetic Injections textbook is a top seller.
