Biography

Dr. Danielle Walsh is a pediatric surgeon at the University of Kentucky where she is Professor of Surgery and Vice Chair for Quality and Process Improvement. Active in professional organizations, she is the immediate Past Chair of the ACS Board of Governors, Past President of the Association of Women Surgeons, past Board member of SAGES, and will Chair the Surgical Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2026. In addition to board certifications in general surgery and pediatric surgery, she is Board Certified in Clinical informatics, holds several certifications in Healthcare Quality, and has formal training in clinical guideline creation and systematic reviews. She has over 75 publications, over 100 regional, national, and international presentations, and published the text, “The SAGES Pediatric Surgical Manual” which has over 30,000 downloads across the globe. In addition to her academic position, Dr. Walsh is CEO of Pirate Surgery, PLLC out of Greenville, NC, where she performs consulting.
