Dr. Paramo is an attending surgeon in Surgical Oncology at the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer, thyroid cancer, melanoma, and sarcoma. He is also an expert in performing operations to treat complex cancer cases including head and neck surgery, endocrine surgery, skin and soft tissue tumor surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Paramo was recognized for his surgical expertise by Newsweek and is listed as one of America’s Top Cancer Doctors. A graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana School of Medicine in Bogota, Colombia, he then completed his residency in General Surgery as well as a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Paramo is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology. He has been a Governor of the American College of Surgeons and was Chair of the survey workgroup of the Board of Governors. He is the South Florida State Chair to the Commission on Cancer. Dr. Paramo is the Chair of the Cancer Committee at the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center and past-President of the South Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Actively engaged in teaching, he is Associate Professor of Surgery the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Surgery at NOVA Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. For 10 years he was the associate program director of the surgery residency program at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Extensively published in all fields of oncologic surgery, Dr. Paramo has authored numerous publications on breast cancer, endocrine surgery, melanoma, thyroid and gastrointestinal cancers.
