Biography

Michael A. Person, MD, MPH, FACS is an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Surgery Clerkship Director at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. He is the Chair of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He actively involved the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma with many leaderships roles including serving as the Rural Chair, Region 8 Chair, and the Chair of the Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC). Dr. Person is passionate about enhancing education and systems development surrounding the care of the injured rural patient.
