Dr. Taryne A. Imai, MD, MEHP, FACS, serves as the Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii, and as the Medical Director for Surgical Services at The Queen's Medical Center. Dr. Imai specializes in robotic approaches for treating benign and malignant diseases of the chest. In 2020, she spearheaded the launch of the Ion Robotic Navigational Bronchoscopy Program at Cedars-Sinai, a cutting-edge platform enabling safer, more precise biopsies of lung nodules. With the support of The Queen’s Medical Center in Hawaii, she has now brought this transformative technology to the Pacific, expanding access to innovative and advanced thoracic care for the local community. Dr. Imai balances her clinical practice with leadership roles in several esteemed professional organizations. She serves as a representative of the American College of Surgeons for the Commission on Cancer, is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Workforce on Health Policy, Reform, and Advocacy, and sits on the Pacific West Regional Board of the American Lung Association. Additionally, Dr. Imai advances her field as an editorial board member for both the Annals of Surgery and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
