Biography

Nicholas Lambrou, M.D., FACOG, is the chief of gynecologic oncology at the Miami Cancer Institute and director of robotic surgery at Baptist Health South Florida. As chief of gynecologic oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Lambrou is part of a team of experts providing the highest quality and evidence-based standards of care to women needing gynecologic surgery and gynecologic cancer care. As director of robotic surgery at Baptist South Florida, he is part of one of the largest and most pre-eminent robotic surgical programs in the world, with surgical experts in every specialty. Among the first robotic surgery innovators, Dr. Lambrou has continued to be a leader in this surgical specialty. Dedicated to furthering education in his field, his work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed publications and textbooks. He was also one of the original editors of The Johns Hopkins Manual of Gynecology and Obstetrics, an educational guide for medical students and residents. Dr. Lambrou serves as a voluntary associate professor at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and has taught at the University of Miami’s Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He has also participated in laboratory research on human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer prevention, and clinical research about the treatment of gynecological cancers. He has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, and was named one of America’s Best Obstetricians and Gynecologists by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Originally from Maryland, Dr. Lambrou moved to Miami where he currently lives with his wife and two children. An active member of the community, Dr. Lambrou serves as the honorary chair for Miami Cancer Institute’s annual breast and ovarian cancer fundraiser and awareness program: Rock N Run Fight N Heal Pink N Teal. Dr. Lambrou joined Miami Cancer Institute as its first Chief of Gynecologic Oncology in 2017.
