Commercial Options for Synoptic Operative Reporting

Commission on Cancer (CoC)-accredited cancer programs may opt to work with vendors to integrate their solutions for synoptic operative reporting. The vendors below have licensed content from the American College of Surgeons. It is expected that their electronic synoptic operative reporting solutions will allow CoC accredited cancer programs to meet compliance with the CoC operative standards. These companies are not owned by or affiliated with the American College of Surgeons. Working with these vendors may involve an additional cost to programs.

The following vendors offer comprehensive synoptic reporting tools designed to replace traditional narrative reports and integrate into the EMR. These tools were built from content in the synoptic operative reporting templates developed by the Cancer Surgery Standards Program (CSSP) for the documentation of melanoma, breast, and colon cancer surgery.

The CSSP synoptic operative reporting templates contain a comprehensive list of data fields including the data elements and responses required for compliance with CoC Standards 5.3 through 5.6, universal surgical elements and elements required by other accrediting organizations, and American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) TNM staging and National Cancer Database (NCDB) codes, where appropriate.
