Credentials and Affiliations
NAPBC Physician Site Reviewers must be:
- An actively practicing (treating, teaching, or administrative role) physician who specializes in breast cancer care.
- Employed or affiliated with a NAPBC-accredited program (currently accredited at time of application).
Skills and Knowledge
NAPBC Physician Site Reviewers must have:
- Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of the current NAPBC Standards.
- Previous experience teaching or presenting instructional/educational information to a learner-based audience.
- Substantial computer skills and access and familiarity with Microsoft Office software products.
- Willingness and ability to learn and use all NAPBC computer programs and databases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey knowledge and suggestions clearly and professionally. Public speaking experience is required.
Responsibilities
NAPBC Physician Site Reviewers must:
- Commit to the required amount of time needed to perform Site Reviewer duties and abide to the signed Site Reviewer Agreement requirements:
- Perform a minimum of 5 (no maximum) NAPBC site visits per calendar year as stated in the Site Reviewer Agreement.
- Site Reviewers conducting site visits in multiple programs would be required to meet the minimum per program (i.e., 8 for CoC and 5 for NAPBC).
- Average time commitment: Time for each site review is 6–8 hours plus 6-8 hours for preparation and final review for each Pre-Review Questionnaire.
- Be willing and able to travel to breast centers across the United States and Puerto Rico (it is possible you will be assigned to site visits outside your home state).
- Be willing and able to perform a virtual site visit.
- Attend any mandatory new Site Reviewer orientations. Attend the annual Site Reviewer Training. Participate in live and/or webcast training sessions as requested.
- Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date with changes in NAPBC policies and NAPBC Standards.
- Be responsive and timely in communications with NAPBC Staff and assigned breast centers.
- Complete and submit all required site review information and documentation to NAPBC within 7 calendar days after the site visit.
- Complete all federal accounting forms, such as 1099; disclosure signed annually.
- Complete and abide to the American College of Surgeons Business Agreement, Confidentiality Agreement, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and participate in annual HIPAA training. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all cancer program information, NAPBC passwords, and access codes.
- Comply with hospital on-premise requirements and guidelines related to COVID-19, including requests for vaccination status.
- Arrange all travel. An honorarium is provided for each site review and is intended to cover travel expenses. Site Reviewers are responsible for arranging their own travel means to all site reviews, as well as keeping track of expenses and accounting records.
