ACS NSQIP & ACS QVP

Variability, limited resources, diminished margins, inefficiencies, and unpredictability can all influence the level of care patients receive. The American College of Surgeons Quality Verification Program (ACS QVP) was developed to address these challenges with ACS NSQIP hospitals in mind.

The ACS QVP works to mitigate these challenges by combining an organized infrastructure with improved communication, leadership, and quality culture—all informed by the exceptional data collected from ACS NSQIP.

Though a separate and optional program from ACS NSQIP, ACS QVP is already bundled into the contract and pricing for Focused participation level when hospitals are ready to start the process.

Learn More about ACS QVP

Combining ACS QVP and ACS NSQIP leads to success. This partnership meets hospital requests on how to better merge data with quality improvement (QI) efforts, assists hospitals in organizing infrastructure, and supports the alignment of effective leadership and communication.

Participation Levels

To support the different needs of different hospitals, the ACS QVP has two distinct participation options—Focused and Comprehensive.

Focused

  • Site visit scope: Hospital-level review plus a focused review of two surgical specialties.
  • Who should apply? A “starter” option for hospitals in early phases of an overarching QI infrastructure. Focused participation is designed to help hospitals who are looking for feedback and direction on how to develop QI programs.

Comprehensive

  • Site visit scope: Hospital-level review plus a review of all surgical specialties.
  • Who should apply? Hospitals that have already developed an overarching QI infrastructure and feel they meet the standards set by the ACS across all surgical specialties.
