The ACS Quality Framework is a comprehensive tool designed to help you and your team plan, conduct, evaluate, and report on quality improvement projects.
The ACS Quality Framework is broken down into 38 criteria across eight components and is designed to help you ensure your projects are comprehensive and effective. While it is not a methodology, it can be used in tandem with any quality improvement methodology.
The Framework components and criteria are organized around three phases of quality improvement projects: Planning, Conducting, and Reflecting. Below you will see how the components are spread across these three phases.
The Quality Framework Toolkit is a set of tools and resources for planning, conducting, and documenting your quality improvement project. While none of these tools and resources are required, we encourage you to use them as you work on your quality improvement projects. This self-paced online course is designed to ensure that you are well-educated on the basic principles of surgical quality improvement. The course is an excellent resource to learn more about the fundamental concepts and tools that are referenced in the Framework.
The ACS Quality Improvement Case Study Repository is a centralized platform of curated quality improvement projects. The case studies allow you to learn from practical examples of other hospitals' experiences and how challenges were addressed and solved.
