Achieving Zero Preventable Deaths

The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) landmark report, A National Trauma System: Integrating Military and Civilian Trauma Systems to Achieve Zero Preventable Deaths after Injury, called upon a broad multidisciplinary group of trauma professionals and laid out an ambitious roadmap to achieve zero preventable injury deaths.

As part of the ACS Committee on Trauma’s commitment to the NASEM report recommendations and the Zero Preventable Deaths and Disability initiative, four workgroups have been developed:

  1. Trauma system infrastructure/governance
  2. Research funding and direction
  3. Data linkage, integration, and outcome measures
  4. and Military/civilian trauma workforce training and readiness
